Two unidentified youths tried to loot a petrol pump on Sunday in Badnera. The youths, in the age-group of 20 to 25 years, came to the petrol pump on their bike (MH-30-U-9698), filled petrol in their bike and gave a Rs 500 note. When the petrol pump employee was returning the remaining amount, one of them tried to snatch the bundle of notes. But he failed to do so. Sensing trouble both fled from the spot in a hurry but left their bike. The petrol pump staff chased the duo but failed to catch them. They informed Badnera police who came with the dog squad but to no avail. Police have registered offences against two the youths.
Soldier dies of heart attack: A 40-year-old soldier Lala Chitawe hailing from Kutanga village in Dharni tehsil of Amravati district died of heart attack. He was attached to Bihar Battalion. He was sent to Raipur for a training camp, During the training he suffered a heart attack on Saturday night and breathed his last during treatment at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Medical College, Raipur. His body was taken to Dharni on Monday and last rites were conducted in the presence of government officials.
State-level science exhibition ends: The three-day state level Inspire Award science exhibition concluded here on Monday. Around 1,112 models were displayed at the exhibition held at Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal. Young brains displayed their creativity through various models based on technology, environment etc. A sprinkler run on solar power, developed by Ganesh Sapkal of Nagpur, was widely appreciated. Another model which earned the compliments of visitors was a water rocket created by Anchal Shringare of Nagpur.
