The first level polling of undergraduate (UG) students for the student council of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) was held at 93 constituencies (departments) for deciding class representatives on Friday.
A total of 234 candidates at UG level were in the fray. The polling was followed by counting of votes and declaration of results. The election process was completed under the supervision of 19 observers and 15 members of election committee.
According to the student council chairman K K Singh, the polling for the postgraduate and PhD levels would be held on Saturday. A total of 72 candidates at PG level and 21 contestants at PhD level would fight for selection of class representatives.
