BU TOI News :- Bangalore University syndicate member warns NRN about V-C's offer

BU TOI News The divide between the vice-chancellor and syndicate members of Bangalore University is no secret. But the split was out in the open when a syndicate member wrote to Infosys chairman emeritus N R Narayana Murthy, asking him to think twice before accepting BU's offer.
Last week, BU V-C N Prabhu Dev wrote an open letter Murthy inviting him to chair the board of governors of its only engineering college, University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering.
Syndicate member K V Acharya wrote to Murthy, warning him about the offer. "...The intention of the vice-chancellor to invite Sri Narayana Murthy is only to build his image that will help him to collect funds and not the academic interest. I submit to Infosys fame Sri Narayana Murthy to think twice before getting into the trap of Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology fame Dr (A) N Prabhudev," wrote Acharya to Murthy.
Acharya has listed the V-C's shortcomings, unkept promises and sad state of affairs at UVCE. "He (V-C) has kept the requests of the principal of UVCE in abeyance (more than 15 times). Even the salaries of temporary staff members have not been released. The compound wall of UVCE building on the rear side collapsed months back and remains so even after bringing this fact to the notice of sel-appointed civic sense promoter. That part has become a public urinal," the letter goes on.
The letter even questions the flow of funds into UVCE -- "the fees collected are diverted, fixed deposits liquidated, provident fund evaporated and even the pension money targetted".
Prabhu Dev had earlier invited Mohandas Pai to spearhead the Bengaluru School of Economics. "By giving such statements, the Vice Chancellor feels Bangalore University becomes number one university in the world and helps him to gather funds from established industrial houses," Acharya says in his letter.

Earlier, V-C accused Acharya of using unparliamentary language in syndicate meetings and Acharya had levelled counter-accusations.
