LAHORE: A Lahore High Court (LHC) judge, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, on Wednesday sought a detailed reply from the Punjab government on an application to suspend the “Online System” introduced by all boards of intermediate & secondary education in the Punjab.
As the proceedings started, the petitioners’ counsel, Advocate Muhammad Azhar Siddique, informed the court that hundreds of students of matriculation and intermediate (Part I & II) were protesting in different cities of the Punjab against the faulty result but the provincial government was sitting idle and taking no measures to redress the situation.
He requested the court to issue a stay order against the online system, which had totally failed due to the criminal negligence of the board officials in the province. At this, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed remarked that the court would not allow anybody, including rulers, to play havoc with the future of innocent students.
“The Punjab government remained silent when students and their parents were complaining against the online system but it woke up once the situation worsened and the students launched a violent agitation”, the judge remarked and adjourned the hearing till November 4. The petitioner had requested the court to immediately ban the online system till the final decision of the court.
