Tonight in the X Factor 2011 we had the results show following last night’s performances. Last night most of the acts were pretty forgettable and the actual singing quickly became overshadowed by the controversy surrounding unfair comments made about Misha B by Louis Walsh and Tulisa Contostavlos. So would anybody remember the actual performances and who would be lurking in the bottom two for the sing-off? We’re about to tell you so read on.Firstly the results show began with ‘star’ performances and the obligatory standing ovations from the judges for turns by Kelly Clarkson, Professor Green and Bruno Mars. Then on to the serious business and ‘in no particular order’ the first act to find they’d be returning next week was Marcus Collins and good for him. That was a well-deserved result. The next to find they were safe were Misha B, Johnny Robinson who had really rocked it on Saturday night, Rhythmix (!), Janet Devlin and then Craig Colton.
After Frankie Cocozza was in the bottom two last week and frankly hadn’t done an awful lot better this week, we were half-expecting that he would be back there this week. However, next to find they were safe were Sophie Habibis (still making no impact at all with me), then Frankie and then The Risk. That meant that both of Tulisa’s two groups were safe which seems pretty ridiculous considering so-so performances and songs which were definitely not rock. The last two contestants left on stage were Sami Brookes and Kitty Brucknell and although I had feared for Sami, (terrible song imposed upon her), even I had to confess that Kitty had done well this week (though I still haven’t warmed to her).
Louis Walsh looked as though he were about to cry as both of the bottom two were in his ‘over 25s’ category and then Sami and Kitty both performed their songs for the sing-off. To be fair both of them belted out renditions that showed that neither should really have been in the bottom two and then it was the judges turn to say who they’d be sending home. Gary Barlow chose Sami, Kelly Rowland also picked Sami, while Tulisa thought Kitty should go. At this point it was all down to Louis Walsh and it seemed that he might take it to deadlock. However Louis manned up and picked Sami to go home, though he looked as though it had broken his heart.
Sami took her defeat well and said that although she may not sell a million records she intended to sing for the rest of her life and that may just be the case and if so good luck to her. There are a few acts left in who really need to step up their performances next week or could be facing next week’s booting off. We’d be interested to hear your views on this year’s X Factor. Do you think it has the same sparkle as always? Who do you think should have gone this week, or maybe you think Sami was the right choice? Let us have your comments.
