Winter Exam Result 2011 (Only for the courses whose results are computerized 2011)
The Nagpur University was established on 4th August, 1923 with six affiliated colleges and 927
students. During 1947, the number of students increased to about 9000 accompanied by the improvement and diversification of curricula and expansion in the range of subjects. The expansion of library and sports facilities occurred during these years for the intellectual and physical well being of the students. It was in 1958 that some new Departments in Arts and Social Science faculties were opened; the major expansion, however, came in 1963 when several science and other teaching Departments were started. The Departments were shifted to spacious buildings in the main campus in 1972-73. In later years, several career oriented courses have been started viz., Business Management, Fine Arts, Mass Communication, Library Science, Physical Education, etc.
During seventy-eight years of its existence, the University has progressed satisfactorily and doing well in the midst of constraints of different sorts. This has been possible because of futuristic vision about higher education of the personalities who adored the chair of Vice-Chancellor of this University. Their determination and dedication helped a lot in progress of this University.

Mumbai Maharashtra-Expand Maha universities district-wise
Mumbai: A committee set up by Maharashtra Government to improve working of the public universities in the state has recommended expansion and development of campuses at district places which is likely to cost nearly Rs 4000 crore to the state exchequer.
Mumbai University panel checks Kalina campus canteens
From DNA-The newly formed four-member expert canteen committee of University of Mumbai has swung into action.
Formed a month ago, it visited the Kalina campus for the first time last week to meet the students and know their problems on food quality and hygiene.
DNA had reported on October 22 (‘Mumbai University hostels making a mess of health’) about the unhygienic university messes serving bad quality food.

Just inside the office of Pashmina Realty in Worli, there's an entire wall covered by a poster of LIFE, an NGO (non-governmental organisation) whose Mumbai chapter focusses mainly on health, education and low-cost housing under the Asit Kotecha Foundation. The poster is full of slogans written by Pashmina employees who participate actively in the NGO.
Behind the poster wall is the office of Asit Kotecha, who owns Pashmina Realty and is founder of ASK Group, a financial and portfolio management services firm that advises wealth to the tune of $1.5 billion. Kotecha is not a new convert to giving; he's been donating 10 percent of his profits to charity since the year his company was formed.
Delhi- Day 1 of semesters: Confusion over attendance

New Delhi Confusion reigned on the first day of the semester exam in Delhi University with many colleges unclear about the minimum attendance required for students to appear for the exams.
While the University says it has made it clear that 66.67 per cent attendance is mandatory for students to appear for exams, colleges following the earlier rules, have allowed students with attendance between 40 and 66.7 per cent to appear for the exams.

PUNE: Thanu Padmanabhan, distinguished Professor and Dean of Core Academic Programmes at the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), has been awarded the Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) prize in Physics for 2011. The award consists of $15,000 and a personalised plaque that will be given to him during the award ceremony arranged by TWAS.
"Padmanabhan is recognised for developing a thermodynamical perspective in which gravity arises as an emergent phenomenon and for contributing significantly to our understanding of dark energy," said a statement released by TWAS.
