Come 2012 and students of the Tricity will only be allowed to appear for online All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE). No centre has been assigned so far for AIEEE offline exam.
Notably, online exam for AIEEE was also conducted last year and over 5,000 students had taken the online test. Though, more than 10,000 students had also appeared in the offline exam in 2011. The conducting authority CBSE had then made 24 centres for the aspirants to take written test.
CBSE Regional Director, RJ Khanderao says, "Since the students are more associated with new technology with internet no exception, the candidates will be more at ease while appearing for online exam."
Supporting the move for the online exam, DAV school Principal Dr Rakesh Sachdeva says, "The students in the urban cities will not face any difficulty during online exams. As far as offline centres are concerned, those in the rural areas may face problem as internet facility may not be available there."
