Summer placements at IIMA from Nov 11
The economic slowdown in the West, particularly in the US, continues to cast a shadow on employment possibilities for graduates of most B-schools. But students of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) are unfazed by the general gloom. They are confident of attracting excellent internship offers when recruiters visit the campus for Summer Placements-2011 that starts from November 11.
Around 380 students of the institute's prestigious Post-Graduate Programme (PGP) in Management will participate in the institute's cohort-based summer placements that begin this week.
The first cluster of International Investment Banking and Global Management Consulting Firms will make their internship offers on Friday, the first day of the summer placements. IIMA students who have been preparing for the placements say they are positive about getting good offers as was the case last year.
Talking to DNA, placement coordinator for the media, Atreyi Bose, said students are excited about the internship offers that may come their way.
"We have been preparing for the summer placements for a while now. As far as response of companies is concerned, they are keen to visit the campus. There has been no decline in interest among recruiters. We will know more about their participation once the summer placements start," said Bose.
She further said that on the basis of communication received so far, the companies are very keen to make offers to students. IIMA is the last to start summer placements this year, she said. Other IIMs have had a good season of summer placements, which is another reason why IIMA need not feel pessimistic about it this year, she added.
