YAMUNANAGAR: The district consumer forum has asked an educational institute to return Rs 1.7 lakh, the fee amount to a student along with interest, holding the institute responsible for spoiling her one full academic year.
The institute had admitted the girl after last date of admission, but university withheld her result of BEd due to late admission.
The forum also held the institute responsible for admitting her against university rule leading to her harassment. According to complainant, Ravnit Kaur of Bilaspur, she approached Krishana Institute of Education and Technology for admission in BEd course in 2007.
The institute agreed to give her admission without disclosing that according to university rules last date for admission was September 2007. She spent complete year in college and deposited Rs 1.7 lakh as fee and other funds.
She appeared in exam in year 2008, but Kurukshetra University withheld her result saying she was admitted after last date of admission. The student produced all receipts and proved that the institute received Rs 1.7 lakh from her and spoiled her career.
District consumer forum president Deena Nath Arora in his order said the fee amount along with interest be returned to the student.
