The Manipur government has planned to set up 535 new primary schools under the Serva Siksha Abhiyan(SSA) as per school mapping exercise based on Global Positioning System(GPS) imageries.
Altogether 2,500 lower primary and upper primary school teachers will be recruited by the end of this month for the new primary schools, State Education Department Principal Secretary J Sureshbabu said.
Sureshbabu also said that state government is soon going to recruit another 300 graduate teachers under the Rastriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan(RMSA).
“Regarding Serva Siksha Abhiyan, we have started 535 new primary schools based on the school mapping. Manipur is the first state in India to complete school mapping exercise based on GPS imageries," he added.
Under RMSA, the state has upgraded 67 upper primary schools to high schools and has recruited about 500 teachers for these upgraded schools.
The Principal Secretary further said that biometric attendance system will soon be installed at all high schools of the state.
