Lucknow University:-BEd results out, students waiting for marksheets

LUCKNOW: Thousands of students pursuing Bachelor of Education (BEd) across the state are left in lurch. Majority of these students had recently appeared in Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) on the condition that their candidature will be considered on the basis of their final year mark sheet. Ironically, at many state universities and colleges, the practical exams are yet to be conducted, and the results are unannounced.

Lucknow University, however, declared its result recently, but the students are now making rounds to get their marksheets. After the students lodged complaint with the higher education officials, secretary, higher education Avnish Awasthi has instructed the vice-chancellors of all the state universities to ensure that practical examinations should be completed till December 10 and the results pending should be declared by December 15.

The secretary added that in the absence of the result and marksheet, BEd students who have qualified TET will not be able to get hold of the job. A student whose BEd result is awaited said, "First, the admissions were delayed and then the examinations. The lax attitude of the university officials is further delaying the matter. Though the results have been declared, we have not got our marksheets." Moulindu Mishra, a college teacher said, "The centralisation process of BEd admissions is responsible for such irregularities. When individual universities used to conduct BEd tests, there was no delay in admissions, examinations and results. The government should think of decentralising the process in the interest of the students."
