Applications are invited for the posts of a) Senior System Analyst – one post for the Examination department b) Database Administrator : one post for the Examination Department and one post for maintenance of University Website, University Accounts Database, IQAC and related services c) System Manager : one post for maintenance of different computer networks and related services of the University and d) Deputy Controller of Examinations – one post for the Examination Department.

Pay Band Scale : for the post at Sl. No. (a), (b) and (d) Rs. 15-600-39,100/- (Pay Band – 3) with a Grade Pay of Rs. 8000/- ; for the post at Sl. No. (c) Rs. 37,400-67,000/- (Pay Band - 4 ) with a Grade Pay of Rs. 10,000/- plus admissible allowances.

Essential Qualifications :

    For the post at Sl. No. (a) and (b) uniformly good academic record with a Master’s degree in Computer / Information Science / Technology / Computer Applications or having a “B” Level or above from DOEACC, Government of India with minimum 55% marks or its equivalent grade in the point scale wherever a grading system is followed along with at least five years of experience in system management in academic institution / Government / Quasi Government / Corporate bodies.

    For the post at Sl. No. (c) Uniformly good academic record with a Master’s degree in Computer / Information Science / Technology / Computer Applications or equivalent or having a “C” Level or above from DOEACC, Government of India with minimum 55% marks or its equivalent grade in the point scale wherever a grading system is followed along with at least fifteen years of working experience in system management in academic institution / Government / Quasi Government / Corporate bodies.

    For the post at Sl. No. (d) i) Uniformly good academic record with a Master’s degree with minimum 55% marks or its equivalent grade in the point scale whereever a grading system is followed. ii) At least 10 years of experience as Lecturer / Assistant Professor in the AGP of Rs. 6000/- and above with experience in educational administration in academic institutions like University, Research Establishment and / or in an institute of higher learning of which 5 (five) years must be in a University or in an institute of Post Graduate Body. iii) At least 3 (three) years of experience in conducting of examinations in either undergraduate teaching institution or equivalent. OR Comparable experience in research establishment and other institute of higher learning. OR 10 (Ten) years of administrative experience of which 5 (five) years shall be as Assistant Registrar or equivalent post.

Desirable Qualifications :

    For the post at Sl. No. (a) and (b) i) Working experience in UNIX / LINUX / WINDOWS operating system and Network Administration for examination related processes with sound knowledge in maintaining large volume of digitized records’ ii) Ability to work with database management softwares, identify user needs, setup new databases, integrate data from existing network into new network, co-ordinate system modifications, plan, co-ordinate and execute database security with network administrator. iii) Familiarity with web based applications, Network hardware, internet uplink tools, installation and up gradation of Open Source and UMS (University Management Service) packages on servers and work stations. iv) Experience in security (Cisco Security Application, PIX, IDS, Academic Computing and Computer Lab and Vendor Management). v) Experience in System Planning, development and Coordinating experience in ORACLE / SQL server / NET / VB / Crystal report environment. vi) Capacity to explore newer project tools, concepts and methodologies including ICR / OMR technology. vii) Ability to impart training to team members to accomplish goals, to meet schedules and resolve technical / operational issues by optimum utilization of resources. viii) Capacity to co-ordinate team activities, create and maintain awareness amongst the team members on emerging technologies.

    For the post at Sl. No. (c) i) A Doctorate Degree or published research work of merit ii) Working experience in UNIX / LINUX / WINDOWS operating system and Network Administration and data communication protocol iii) Ability to design, install, support and maintain University’s computer system including LANs / WANS, internet and intranet systems and network and information security iv) Interact with various environments including other Universities, National Record Organisations, Government Organisations, regulatory bodies and corporate bodies v) Ability to install and maintain network hardware and software, analyse problems and monitor networks to ensure their availability to users. vi) Ability to integrate and maintain system efficiency of the computer network at different campuses, plan and make recommendations for future upgrades and modifications. vii) Familiarity with web based applications, Network hardware, internet uplink tools, installation and up gradation of Open Source and UMS (University Management Service) packages on servers and work stations. viii) Experience in System Planning, Development and Coordinating Experience in ORACLE / SQL server / NET / VB / Crystal report environment. ix) Capacity to explore newer project tools, concepts and methodologies including ICR / OMR Technology. x) Ability to impart training to team members to accomplish goals, to meet schedules and resolve technical / operation issues by optimum utilization of resources. xi) Capacity to co-ordinate the team activities, create and maintain awareness amongst the team members on emerging technologies. xii) Ability to work with database management softwares, identify user needs, setup new databases, integrate data from existing network into new network, co-ordinate system modifications, plan and co-ordinate database security with network administrator.

    For the post at Sl. No. (d) i) A Doctorate Degree or published paper of high standard OR ii) Experience of at least 10 years in a fairly senior position in any academic institution like a college or a University or a Research Organisation

Age as on (01-01-2012) : For the post at Sl. No. (a) and (b) not less than 35 years, for the post at Sl. No. (c) not less than 40 years relaxable in the case of exceptionally qualified candidate and for the post at sl. No. (d) not less than 35 years relaxable in the case of exceptionally qualified candidate.

Fulfilment of essential and desirable conditions may not confer any right for an interview. The University reserves the right to decide on the number of candidates to be called for interview for a particular post.

Stipulations in respect of qualifications, experience and age may be relaxed by the Syndicate in cases of exceptionally brilliant candidates or candidates who have been working in the University System on the recommendation of the relevant Standing Committee. The Standing Committee reserves the right to consider suitable persons who may not formally apply. Appointment will be made on probation for one year which may be waived or extended in exceptional cases and will be governed by the rules of the University as framed and / or to be amended from time to time. Candidates already in employment should apply through proper channel.

Applications (7 copies) in prescribed form obtainable from the University Sales Counter at College Street Campus, Kolkata - 700 073, on University working days from 10.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on payment of Rs. 300/- in cash (Rs.75/- for SC/ST/PC candidates on submission of relevant documents issued by the Competent Authority) should reach the undersigned not later than April 30, 2012.

Applications in the prescribed proforma may also be downloded from the University Website at “www.caluniv.ac.in” and such applications duly attached with a Bank Demand Draft of Rs. 300/- ( Rs. 75/- for SC/ST/Physically Challenged candidates together with all the required documents) or US $ 20 drawn in favour of the Registrar, University of Calcutta, alongwith the filled-in prescribed form should reach the office of the undersigned not later than April 30, 2012.
