CBI CAG report on coal | CBI on CAG Report Coal ghotala 2012
The CBI, probing alleged irregularities in allotment of coal blocks to both private players and public sector enterprises between 2006 and 2009, has examined members of Screening Committee, including secretaries and joint secretary in the coal ministry. The agency also maintained that it would examine the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report which was tabled in Parliament on Friday.
Sources in the agency said the CBI may convert it existing "preliminary enquiry" (PE) into a regular case if some criminality is established during the probe.
The agency has intensified its probe into the Colgate scam. The agency officials recently examined Secretaries and Joint Secretary in the Coal Ministry, who are part of the Screening Committee. Representatives of some private companies, who were allocated coal blocks, have also been examined by the CBI officials", sources said.
"After analysing all documents, including CAG report, the agency sleuths may seek clarification from other members of the 'screening committee' that allocated coal blocks", sources said.
