MORE than 12.000 aspirams from Nagpur University area will appear for National Eligibility Test (NET) to be conducted by University Grant Commission's (UGC) on Sunday. December 30. 2012. Last year around more than 10.000 aspirants appeared for the test, but result was quite disappointing with UGC revising the passing percentage and making it more stringent. NET is manda tory for leaching job in senior college. With majority of teaching posts in affiliated colleges up for grans, despite dismal passing percentage, the aspirants are appearing in NET and its state level equivalent SET conducted by University of Pune.
NET is a common lest coiuJucted by UGC's National Education Testing Bureau to judge eligibility of candidates for lectureship and to award Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for Indian nationals.
First paper of NET will be held from 9:30 am to 10:45 am and again from 10:45 am to 12 noon. Second session will begin at 1:30 pm and go on till 4.30 pm. The test will be conducted in 78 subjects. Paper-I shall be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. Sixty (60) multiple choice questions of two marks each will be given, out of which the candidate would be required to answer any fifty (50). Paper-II shall consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions based on the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks. Paper-IN will consist of 75 objective type compulsory questions from the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks.
