FEARS of the historic Shakuntala Express not running on tracks again were chucked away with ihe narrow gauge train making a journey from Murtijapur to Yavatmal on Wednesday. The train was out of service since last six months.

Guard M S Belkhende gave the green signal to the train at Murtijapur station at 9 am on Wednesday and driver Tarachand Rama Borkar reached Yavatmal at 6.10 pm. In Karanja.  MLA Prakash Dahake welcomed the irain and felicitated driver Borkar.
From now on. Shakuntala will start front Murtijapur at 9 am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday in a week and reach Yavatmal by 5 pm. It will start at 6 am from Yavatmal on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and reach Murtijapur by 3 pm.

It may be mentioned here that heavy rainfall during last monsoon had damaged the tracks badly. Therefore. Shakuntala Express lay stranded at Murtijapur since July 23 last. People had been demanding revival of train as bus ticket fare from Yavatmal to Darwha is Rs 45 while the same for Shakuntala was Rs 9. Bus fare tor Murlijapur from Yavaimal is Rs 120 while thai of Shankumala was Rs 28. This is the reason why many passengers prefer the train.
