Two days before its annual lottery for affordable houses by MHADA, MHADA Mumbai released a list of 87,647 illegible applicants.

The authority rejected 5,912 of 93,559 applicants after scrutiny for furnishing improper information and documents.

MHADA Mumbai will sell 1,244 houses across Mumbai this year through the lottery on May 31 at Rang Sharada Auditorium.

"These candidates were rejected due to reasons such as mismatch in permanent account numbers. There were also cases of multiple applications using one account number," said Vishal Deshmukh, deputy chief officer of MHADA Mumbai board.

MHADA reconsidered 51 applications after appeals. After finalising the list, it conducted a dry run of the lottery system Wednesday and was in the process of sealing the lottery software.
