New system of recruitment and entry of IBPS
In this situation it was thought to have a common pool of resource ready for recruitment I the banking sector. A common entrance test in the fashion of CAT or MAT was mooted to shortlist eligible recruitable candidates for the clerical cadre and entry level officer cadre.
The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) which was already in the activity of facilitating tests for promotion in various bank was found fit the bill. IBPS is an autonomous body and have experience and needed facility for mass level examination, with their own printing facility. IBPS was thus authorized by Indian Banks Association (IBA), 19 public sector banks and approved by Govt. of India to carry out the Common Written Test. (CWE). They have brought out the initial notification.
The candidates who appeared for the CWE will be issued with a score card by IBPS. This card is valid for one year. The banks intending to recruit clerical and entry level officers grade personnel will invite applications from the candidates having the score card, and specifying their own eligibility norms like interview etc. and minimum score in CWE. A valid score card issued by IBPS is a prerequisite for such bank recruitment henceforth. Selection process already initiated will continue so.
