Only 48% candidates qualified in NEET 2013 Exam Chhattisgarh
THE first National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET), a common admission test for admission in all Government medical and dental colleges across the nation proved a disappointment for Chhattisgarh State as only 48% candidates qualified the examination- In fact the performance of State is much lower than the national average of 55%.
In all States of the nation where over 5.000 candidates appearing for this examination, performance of Chhattisgarh was the third lowest after Maharashtra and Assam. In Maharashtra only 35.18% candidates qualified NEET-2013 whereas in Assam the qualifying percentage of this examination is 43.72%. In entire nation, total 6.58 candidates appeared for this exam in different slates and out of them 3.66 lakh aspirants qualified the exam. The NEET-2013 was conducted at 1251 examination centers located in 85 cities of nation and some foreign countries.
In Chhattisgarh the examination was held in only capital Raipur and so all appeared students of Chhattisgarh sat for this examination in different allotted exam centers of Raipur. In Chhattisgarh 12209 students enrolled for the examination and out of them. 10878 appeared for it. Among them, only 5226 aspirants succeeded to qualify the examination which accounted for 48.04%. Since state government has also scraped state level medical entrance examination so NEET-2013 saw a large number of aspirants in the slate. Apart from other government medical and dental colleges of the nation, admission in 3 government medical colleges with a capacity of 300 seats for MBBS. 6 dental colleges (1 government and 5 private). 4 homeopathic colleges and 3 ayurveda colleges will also be happened on the basis of score and rank of this exam.
The qualifying criteria of this exam for general category candidates was 50th percentile, followed by 40th percentile for Other Backward Class (OBC) candidates. 40th percentile for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe category (ST). 45th percentile for Physically Handicapped General Calegory and 40th percentile for Physically Handicapped of all three categories consists of OBC, SC and STr
Except Maharashtra, the performance of Chhattisgarh in this exam was poor as compared to its other neighboring states. The qualifying percentage of candidates in Andhra Pradesh is 62.45% followed by 57.58K in Jharkhand. 56.8% in Uttar Pradesh,52.58% in Orissa and 50% in Madhya Pradesh.
Out of all states, Kerala did best performance wiih 75.43% candidates qualified the exam. In Delhi 73.89% aspirants qualified the exam and Karnalaka came third with 73.2 % succeeded to qualify the exam.
