Health Department cancels appointment of 108 Medical Officers
ACTING lough on doctors getting selected in Government service but not joining at the place of posting within stipulated time, Maharashtra Government has cancelled appointment of 108 Medical Officers. Of these Medical Officers, as many as 30 were posted in Vidarbha region.
These doctors were posted in various districts of Maharashtra including 10 out of 11 in Vidarbha region alone. The districts in Vidarbha where these Medical Officers did not join include Bhandara. Gondia. Buldhana. Yavatmal. Akola. Amravati, Chandrapur. Wardha. Nagpur. Gadchiroli. Other districts where they were posted include Thane. Nashik. Ratnagiri. Beed. Nanded. Solapur. Osmanabad, Ahmednagar, Pune. Dhulc, Latur. Satara. Raigad, Kolhapur, Aurangabad, Sindhudurg. Sangli. and Jalgaon. Of a total 108 doctors sacked, 30 were posted in Vidarbha region alone.
Of the 30 Medical Officers sacked, five were posted at District Hospitals in Bhandara (02). Buldhana (02). and Gadchiroli (01). Nine were posted at Sub-District Hospitals at Warora (02). Achalpur. Arvi, Pandharkawda. Morshi. Ramtek. Dharni. Pusad (01 each). Eleven of these doctors were posted at Rural Hospitals at Korpana. Gondpipri. Bhidi. Ralegaon. Lakhandur. Parseoni. Umred. Karanja (Ghadge). Nagbhid. Telhara. and Barshitakli. Three of these were posted at Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Satgaon. Darekasa and Kati in Gondia district, and Shahapur in Bhandara district.
To remove the deficiency of Medical Officers in Maharashtra Medical and Health Services Group-A cadre across the State. Public Health Department had conducted a special drive. Accordingly, it was decided to appoint them on nomination basis. An independent Selection Committee was formed by the department. Following due procedure, Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL) announced category-wise quota. The candidates qualifying all the eligibility criteria, were given appointment letters.
