Two more gates of Upper Wardha Dam opened 2013
TWO more gates of Upper Wardha Dam at Simbhora village about 7 kms from Morshi own have been opened on Sunday by district administration as the water level at the dam maintained up-to the danger mark continuously on the second day.
With that administration now has opened total of 9 out of the 13 doors as seven were opened on Saturday.
Tourists have made it a picnic spot as large number of tourists from Amravati and nearby districts are reaching to Upper Wardha dam to view the beauty of water falling from the dam.
The water storage capacity was set at 341.04 cubic meter by administration for the months of July and August. But the water level at the dam was reached to 341.56 Cubic meter on Friday itself thereby forcing administration to conduct a meeting for releasing the water from the dam. After conducting the meeting the officers atlast have opened three doors by 21 cms at 7 am on Saturday. The water was been released by 100 cubic meter per second. Later four more doors were opened on Saturday as the flow of water accumulating the dam was much higher.
Upper Wardha Dam officers on Sunday again have opened two more doors at 9.30 am as the water storage in the dam is maintained al 341.53 cubic meter. With that nine doors of the dam have been opened by 38 cms and 539 cubic meter water per second has been released. While 308 cubic meter water is still accumulating in the dam at the same time.
According to the Upper Wardha Irrigation Department if the flow Of water at the dam from catchment area will increase all the doors will be opened and 1000 cubic meter water will be released from the dam.
Meanwhile, people from Amravati and nearby district have enjoyed the Sunday by visiting the dam for viewing the beauty of water falling from the dam.
