SEEING is believing! What you sec is what you get. It's not an exaggeration. Truly, Muktai (Doma) waterfall is the most enchanting tourist destination, near Shankarpur in Chimur tehsil of Chandrapur district.

It is 60 km away from Umrer via Kampa and the road is motorable up to the spot. It witnessed tourists in thousands since onset of monsoon and on Independence Day it seemed [hat all roads are leading to Muktai as hosts of tourists including youths, men, women, children made a bee-line to the place.

Hidden in the hilly tracts of Saat Bahinincha Dongar (hills of seven sisters), as it is called, fully covered by lush green forest the only sounds that breaks tranquility of jungle is the noise of tourists assembled in large numbers and incessant music of this waterfall.

Satish Kharche. a science teacher from Malkapur, said, the spot has enough potential to be developed into a tourist centre and all government agencies including MTDC must make efforts to bring it on tourist map. It will give fillip to tourism related industries and will also generate employment . 

D M Paiil, a history teacher, said, there are several tourist attractions in Vidarbha still unexplored. The recently formed Umrer-Karhandla wildlife sanctuary will definitely help conserve the flora and fauna and wildlife in the region.

Ongoing Indiscriminate excavation for minerals like holders, inurum. sand on leased or unleased lands is a cause of concern. Entire Vidrabha region has immense archaeological potential and there are several specific sites in and around Paoni in Bhandara district which need official excavation which in turn can unearth history still unknown to us.

V N Parekar. who hails from Chimur. said, sighting a tiger is not a novelty for us.

The area is replete with jungles and water bodies all around. Apart from Gosikhurd Dam. Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve and Umrer-Karhamlla Wildlife Sanctuary there are several such places like Muktai (Doma) unknown to the urban world.
