Now, medical institutions to follow admission through one CET rule NEET-CET 2013 2014
THE decision of Pravesh Niyamran Samiti (Admission Regulatory Committee) asking medical institutions 10 admit students from one CET only has put students in trouble. Because of this decision, students may have to go to other region to take admission, if they don't get admission to the college in their respective regions. The samiti has also made it clear that, the rule would be applicable 10 oilier branches too.
The Pravesh Niyantran Samiti has received a leuer pointing out the fact that to fill vacant seats for first year BDS course for the academic year 2013-14 from among est the qualified students of NEET-CET 2013 in case vacancies could not be filled in from amongst the students of Asso-CET 2013. The samiti perused the letter under reference. It is stated that the college is located in hilly and rural area. It has been the experience of the college that if the college draws the students only from Asso-CET. seats remain vacant for want of enough students. 11 was, therefore, necessary for them to draw students from other sources additionally. The samiti, after carefully going through the orders of Supreme Court after deliberations, decided that the students can be drawn from die merit lists to be prepared by the college, from amongst the applications received from the qualified students of only one CET.
This has made things difficult as students who have appeared in Asso-CET have to take admission tinly in the colleges under the gamut of Association. It means, even if they could get admission to the college in their region, they have to go to the college situated outside the region. Had NEET and Asso-CET combined, this problem would not have arised.
According to experts, though in the order of Supreme Court it is not mentioned, as discussed. Che National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) UG will be only for admission to Government Medical Colleges (GMCs). Associations of private medical and dental colleges and deemed to be institutions will have their own tests as were conducted in the year 2012. At the same time the apex court had made it clear that after the second round of admission process, if seats remained vacant for seven days, the same could be filled through NEET.
