WILDLIFE Wing of Forest Department has taken a note of increased fees for tourists visiting Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) in view of frequent sightings of tigers in the park.
TOURISTS visiting Pench Tiger Reserve (Maharashtra pari) had a lucky day on Monday as they sighted live tigers during morning safari and evening safari. Probably this is the first time in the history of this tiger reserve that tourists could see five tigers in a single day.
Sarjan Bhagat. Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife). Maharashtra, has asked S S Mishra. Additional PCCF (Wildlife). East. Nagpur. to study the fee structure and truth in people's complaints that only rich persons can enjoy jungle safari while common man is deprived of it. The department increased the fees from October 16, when the park reopened after monsoon. "Tadoba tigers out of bounds of commoners".
When contacted, Bhagat said on Monday that the officers concerned will analyse the number of visitors in a month last year with the corresponding period this year. The department will plan for introducing canter mini-buses in order to accommodate middle class families, There is also an option of not increasing these rates for the next three/four years. After the report of the officers, the department can think on decreasing the fees. A State level committee increases or decreases lilies after approval by the Forest Minister, he pointed out.
