ZP chief's post reserved for General (Woman)

THF. suspense over reservation of the posts of Zilla Parishad (ZP) chiefs across the Slate was over on Thursday, with draw of lots. As per the lottery, seven out of total 11 posts of ZP chiefs in Vidarbha region have been reserved for women. Previously, six of these posts were reserved for women.

As far as Nagpur ZP is concerned, it is currently reserved for OBC (Woman). Member from Wanadongri circle BJP Leader is the current President of Nagpur ZP. With the post getting reserved for General (Woman), she stands a better chance to retain it as she had got elected from General (Woman) category from Wanadongri circle. She herself is very much willing to remain ZP President for second consecutive term of two-and-a-half years. In fact, sources in ZP say, she is also desirous of contesting the ensuing elections of Legislative Assembly 'from the constituency that party deems fit.
