90 km-long ancient wall found in Raisen
AN ANCIENT wall has been found at the Gorakhpur village of Raisen disirici which is situated ai the national highway-12 and only 150 kilometers far away from the state capital. Leftovers of a 90 km long wall has founded between the mountain range of this village which is also the part of Vindhyachal mountain range.
A group of eight members of history collection committee in the guidance of Archaeologist Dr Narayan Vyas had visited Gorakhpur village for research. Senior citizens of the village informed that this wall reach to the water resource (Baadi) which starts from the village. Its length is 90 kilometers while height might be 15-20 foots and breadth between 15-18 foots.
Besides, large stones have been used during the construction of wall which had mined from the mine of this area. This wall has given strengthen by the use of soil and concrete with large stones. Although, enough inspection has not done till yet. Archaeological Department has done the survey only around five kilometers with the help of villagers but group has to come back due to dense forest and mountains.
According to officers of history collection committee, we can compare this wall with the lake's wall of the Raja Bhoj on the base of style. Construction style of both the walls is similar. This large wall presents die boundary of kingdom of Raja Bhoj. District NarshingGarhbegins after this wall.
Apart from this, archeologists said that, we found leftovers of ponds of 10th and 11th century, waterfalls and hundreds of temples during the visit till only 5 kilometers. There could be possibility of temples of goddess Bherav, Shiva and Vishnu due to indication of leftovers. So we found the sign of a human civilisation over there.
The group of history collection committee will visit in February 2014, again. In this reference, information has been sent to Archaeological Survey of India and Temple Project. If the group will be get the help of ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) then the work could be done in the direction of conservation of the wall.
