Engineering colleges Fees at Nagpur District Hiked in 2014, List of Engineering Collage Nagpur 2014
According to the final fee structure for the academic session 2013-14 issued by the committee, Yaswantrao Chawan College of Engineering (YCCE) has the highest admission fee of Rs. 1.5 lakh whereas Gadchiroli based Namdeorao Poreddiwar College of Engineering and Technology has the lowest fee of Rs. 48,000. Out of the 60 engineering colleges of Nagpur division, fees of around 80% colleges has reached up to Rs. 70-80,000 whereas fees of 10% colleges has increased till Rs. 85-90,000. Apart from this, there are a very colleges having fees between Rs. 48,000 and 65,000.
In response to the committee's decision, many officials of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University and senior academicians have expressed astonishment.
On the condition of anonymity, varsity officials pointed out that there are many colleges who do not provide basic facilities to students. Despite this, their fees has been increased. Some senior academicians stated that there is no point in increasing the fees when colleges do not have permanent lecturers.
Endorsing their views, students stated that colleges might have to bear more losses as fee hike is the main reason for large number of vacant seats in engineering courses. "It is better to take admission is colleges of metro cities rather than paying a heavy amount here," they added.
