to engage Research Personnel
The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is a premier national autonomous
Institute of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoE&F),
Government of India in the field of teaching, training and research. The
WII wishes to engage 01–Project Biologist (Indian National only) for
short-term externally funded projects through a walk-in-interview on Friday, 7th February 2014.
The details of the available position along with essential and
desirable qualifications, terms and conditions and how to apply are
given below:

Impact of artificial illumination on sea finding behaviour of olive ridley sea turtle at Gahirmatha rookery, Odisha.
(01 – Project Biologist)
Duration: Nine months.

Essential Qualification
|
Masters’ Degree in Wildlife Science/Botany/Zoology/Forestry/Life
Science/Agriculture/ Environmental Sciences/Biological Sciences with a
minimum of 55% aggregate marks from a recognized University.

Desirable Qualification
|
Prior experiences in (a) Field surveys involving population estimation and or behavioural ecology (b) Rapid assessment procedures; and (c) Application of Remote Sensing and GIS.
|
Description of Work
|
To study the impact of artificial illumination on nesting sea turtles
using the Gahirmatha rookery and assess the level of disorientation by
turtle hatchlings. The researcher is expected to be highly motivated and
have the ability to work in harsh environment that will include regular
boat based surveys in the near-shore waters off the Odisha coast.

GENERALTERMS & CONDITIONS

Candidate(s) possessing Master’s Degree along with final year mark-sheet will only be eligible to appear for the walk-in-interview. Candidates appearing in the final year of Masters’ Degree Program will not be eligible to apply for the advertised position.

Age of the candidate shall not be more than 35 years for the advertised positions as on Tuesday, 14th January 2014.

Selected candidate will be paid a consolidated emolument of Rs. 16,000/- per month as fellowship.

Selected candidate shall be engaged initially for the period as mentioned in the advertisement. However, the fellowship may be extended depending upon the exigencies of work at sole discretion of the Institute and satisfactory performance of the candidate.

Selected candidate may be allowed hostel accommodation at the institute, as per availability. Where the hostel accommodation is not possible, house rent allowance (HRA) will be paid as per the rules of the Institute. Other allowances and benefits to the research personnel would be admissible as per the rules of the Institute, amended from time to time.

The selection will be based on Walk-in-Interview to be held on Friday, 7th February 2014 at the Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Dehra Dun and the registration for the advertised position will be done from 09:00 to 10:00hrs on 15th January 2014 at WII.

Canvassing in any form is liable to rejection of the candidature.

Candidate(s) should bring the duly filled-in applications with attested true copies of testimonials of educational qualifications, research experience, extra-curricular activities, date of birth etc., along with copies of mark sheets of all examinations. All original documents should be produced at the time of registration.

One way travel expenses will be paid to the candidate, selected for the project. The expense will be limited to actual 2nd class rail/bus fare by the shortest route from his/her place of stay/residence.

The Institute will not provide accommodation for candidates appearing for the interview.
