Nagpur University Academic Council Meet March 2014
AGAINST the backdrop of unresolved issue of 250-banned colleges, a meeting of Academic Council scheduled on Tuesday is said lo be crucial. As High Court, in the recent judgement, had fired members of Academic Council for not turning up in the meeting, now everybody will remain present in the meeting and nobody would boycott it. it is expected.
The Manacement Council meet was boycotted on Saturday by most of the members to raise their demands. Now. Vice-Chancellor Dr Vilas Sapkal has come out with a solution, it is learnt.
High Court, in its judgement, had clearly stated that it hoped Academic Council would discharge its obligation to the university and to the students.
It is speculated that the academic council might come out with the a solution wherein the colleges which have one teacher would he given six month's time. The students would be allowed to appear in die examination commencing from March 5. There are 170 colleges which have completed 10 years and running sans full time faculty should be affiliated permanently.
The remaining colleges can be given some time period lo start procedure of recruiting teachers.
Mahendra Nimbarte. Member of Management Council is of the opinion that the colleges can be asked to submit the progress regarding teachers recruitment, colleges should submit report with affidavit that they would complete the procedure within certain period, the university should accept the same and allow students to appear in die examination, the university should give college the ultimatum if they don't complete the process within time-frame they would be put in the list of the banned colleees.
