RAILWAYS will do police verification of passengers who Travel via monthly season ticket (MST). In order to make the new MST or to renew the old one, address proof verified from the concerned police station would be needed. This system will be implemented starting July 15.

This is expected to facilitate and help during the interrogation or questioning routine passengers in case of theft, loot and other criminal cases in the train.

According to an official of Railways, this would help in keeping track of the daily passengers of the Railways. Railway officers feel that Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Security Force (RPF) would have the most benefit of keeping record of the updowners and they will be able lo easily gel the news of any criminal activities in trains with the help of the daily passengers. Moreover, daily passengers too will feel free to act during these conditions since they have their record secure with the Railways.

As of now. daily updowners are given a card (identity card) after The payment of some fees and MST is given 10 the passenger. According to the new system, the whole pro-forma will be given to the passenger in which he/she will have to get his/her address verified from the nearest police station from his/her residence and submit the same to the Railways after which MST will be made for the passenger from that station.
