ZP nagpur water scarcity measures 

plan of measures for 531 villages which are likely to face water scarcity was sent to the district collector's office by water supply department of Nagpur Zilla Parishad for approval. An expenditure of ` 3.92 crore was expected on this. 105 works have beeen given administrative approval. These include repairs of 30 water schemes and 76 borewells. These works have been undertaken through gram panchayats. The approval for same was expected early due to water shortage in summer. But due to delayed approval, the repair works have been delayed.
The action plan is prepared on the basis of demands placed by gram panchayats. Measures are suggested considering possible water scarcity. It is expected that measures are taken up in February or March months. But repairs works cannot be undertaken unless there is approval. Since approval is given in May month, the funds remain unutilised.
Hundreads of water supply schemes of five districts of eastern Vidarbha had suffered huge damages due to heavy rains and floods.
The State government had mande available ` 1.50 crore to repair these water supply schemes. The water supply schemes in 40 villages in Nagpur district were affected due to heavy rains and floods. The people in these villages are facing water scarcity in summer. The government had made available ` 75 lakh for repair of these water supply schemes in April which is lying idle with district collector's office.
