The State government has finally gave approval for the Government Engineering College in the city after the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday. The engineering aspirants of the Vidarbha region will take a sigh of relief after this decision of the State government.

The GR issued by the government states that after the final approval of the government, the college will begin from the next academic session.

The government has asked the Directorate of Technical Education to acquire land for the construction of the college near Wanjari. The estimated cost of the college is around ` 89.29 crore. If sources are to be believed, the DTE has already appealed the Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University to sanction permission for the required amount.

The additional secretary of DTE M M Morve issued orders to begin appointing teachers for the engineering college. The engineering aspirants in the city were eagerly waiting for a Government Engineering College in the city.

The college premises

The Government Engineering College will have wide range of engineering courses to offer for the students. Civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electric engineering, electronics and telecommunication engineering, computer science among other courses will be offered at the college. The college will be situated at Wanjari near Kamptee road. 
नागपुरातील प्रस्तावित शासकीय इंजिनीअरिंग कॉलेजचा अध्यादेश राज्य सरकारने मंगळवारी काढला. त्यामुळे या कॉलेजसाठी जमीन संपादन आणि आर्थिक तरतुदीचा मार्ग मोकळा झाला आहे. परंतु, हे कॉलेज २०१५-१६ च्या शैक्षणिक सत्रात सुरू होण्याची शक्यता आहे.

रोजगार हमी योजना मंत्री नितीन राऊत हे गेल्या वर्षभरापासून शासकीय इंजिनीअरिंग स्थापन करण्यासाठी प्रयत्न करीत आहेत. राज्य विधी​ मंडळात इंजिनीअरिंग कॉलेज स्थापन करण्याचा निर्णय घेण्यात आला होता. तर आज राज्य सरकारने त्याकरिता रीतसर अध्यादेश काढला आहे. त्यासंदर्भात माहिती देताना तंत्रशिक्षण सहसंचालक गुलाबराव ठाकरे म्हणाले की, सरकारने अध्यादेश काढल्याने आता पुढील प्रक्रिया सोपी होणार आहे. सरकारने ऑटोमोटिव्ह चौकाजवळील वांजरी येथील जागा कॉलेजकरिता निश्चित केली आहे. त्या जमिनीचा ताबा आता घेता येईल. शिवाय येत्या अर्थसंकल्पात कॉलेजकरिता आर्थिक तरतूद देखील होणार आहे. कॉलेजच्या इमारतीचा बांधकाम आराखडा, तसेच अखिल भारतीय तंत्रशिक्षण परिषदेकडे शासकीय कॉलेजच्या मान्यतेचा प्रस्तावही सादर करता येणार आहे. एआयसीटीईकडून मान्यता मिळाल्यावर पुढील वर्षी या कॉलेजमध्ये प्रवेश प्रक्रिया होईल.


इंजिनीअरिंग कॉलेजकरिता एकूण ८९ कोटी रुपयांच्या खर्चाला मान्यता देण्यात आली आहे. तसेच शिक्षक व शिक्षकेतर पदे उच्च स्तरीय समितीच्या माध्यमाने निर्धारित करण्यात येणार आहे. तर कॉलेजमधील कोर्सेसच्या मान्यतेची जबाबदारी तंत्रशिक्षण संचालकांना सोपवण्यात आली आहे. सदर कॉलेज नागपूर विद्यापीठाशी संलग्न‌ित राहणार आहे. तथापि, इंजिनीअरिंग कॉलेजमध्ये सिव्हिल, मेकॅनिकल, इलेक्ट्रिकल, इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स अॅन्ड कम्युनिकेशन कम्प्युटर सायन्स अॅन्ड इंजिनीअरिंग अशा ब्रान्चेस राहणार आहेत. प्रत्येक विषयाला ६० इतकी प्रवेश क्षमता निर्धारित करण्यात आली आहे.
