The Navodaya Vidyalaya System is a unique experiment unparalleled in the annals of school education in India and elsewhere. Its significance lies in the selection of talented rural children as the target group and the attempt to provide them with quality education comparable to the best in a residential school system. Such children are found in all sections of society, and in all areas including the most backward. 

नवोदय विद्यालय समिति में प्रिंसिपल के पद पर 47 वैकेंसी निकली हैं. जनरल कैटेगरी के लिए 19, एससी के लिए 6, एसटी के लिए 14 और ओबीसी के लिए 8 पद खाली हैं. उम्मीदवारों का चयन नार्थ ईस्ट, जम्मू-कश्मीर व अन्य राज्यों के लिए किया जाएगा.

इन पदों के लिए उम्मीदवार की शैक्षिणिक योग्यता 50 प्रतिशत के साथ पोस्ट ग्रेजुएशन व बीएड निर्धारित की गई है. वह किसी गवर्नमेंट/सेमी गवर्नमेंट/सरकार से मान्यता प्राप्त/सीबीएसई से मान्यता प्राप्त स्कूल में कार्यरत हो. 35 से 45 वर्ष के बीच के आयु के उम्मीदवार इस पद के लिए अप्लाई कर सकते हैं. आयु की गणना 30 जून, 2014 से की जाएगी.

सेलेक्शन स्क्रीनिंग टेस्ट, लिखित परीक्षा व साक्षात्कार के माध्यम से किया जाएगा. अंतिम चयन मेरिट के अनुसार किया जाएगा. 15600-39,1200 रुपये का वेतनमान निर्धारित किया गया है.
